Thanks for visiting my website. You can contact me, Val Kovalin, at I read just about everything, and I write reviews, articles, and fiction.  Here is some information about my fiction.

Here at ObsidianBookshelf.com, I started off by reviewing m/m (homoerotic) fiction in all genres.  Recently, I've been expanding into f/f (lesbian) fiction, mostly historicals. I've even started dipping my toe in the water of the vast m/f Romance genre to explore all of its subgenres. As a reader, I'm a newcomer to Romance, but fairly knowledgeable about Fantasy fiction.  My articles on how to write fantasy fiction draw upon a lifetime of reading Fantasy, and many years of writing it. 

Eventually this site will focus on how to write, Fantasy Fiction, and all three types of Romance:  m/m, f/f, and m/f.
